Planning for Transfer of Wealth
There is nothing more important than assuring that our family enjoys the fruits of our hard work and saving, both while we are alive and after we are gone. Many people take precautions that protect their wealth in their own hands, such as buying insurance and consulting investment advisors. But no plan of protection is complete unless you consider how your wealth should be transferred safely to your loved ones during your life and at your passing. Certainly you would wish to transfer as much as possible of your wealth to your loved ones, and thus to minimize the impact of death taxes and poor management of your wealth when you can no longer manage it. Many people know this, but have not taken even the basic steps toward achieving the security that those loved ones they may leave behind are shielded from these risks.
But building a basic plan is surprisingly easy. In just two meetings, I can formulate with you and draft the papers you will need to create a complete basic estate plan for you, your spouse and your family. This would include tax-planned wills for you and your spouse, as well as an advance medical directives and general powers of attorney.
If more comprehensive planning is needed, I will consult with you about the value of inter vivos trusts, family partnerships, complex testamentary trusts and other structures, and special needs trusts, and draft appropriate instruments to establish these. I will also work closely with your financial planner, investment advisor or insurance consultant to assure that your plan is put into effect seamlessly and in complete coordination with you other wealth plans.
