After graduating from law school, I joined Schnader, Harrison, Segal & Lewis, Philadelphia, PA, as an associate. I represented banks in secured lending transactions in the range of tens to hundreds of millions of dollars. I also represented numerous, industrial and financial clients in connection with securities reporting, mergers and acquisitions and capital-raising transactions. After becoming a partner of the firm, I headed the project finance and leveraged leasing practice of the firm. I served as chief outside counsel for Ogden Projects, Inc., a leading waste-to-energy development company, and as counsel to United Parcel Service in connection with equity investments of approximately $1.2 billion in leveraged capital equipment leases.
After 11 years of successful law practice, I joined Ogden Projects as Chief Administrative Officer. Over the next 11 years, I held several senior positions with responsibility for both line and staff units, including operations, development, corporate counsel, human resources and information technologies. I organized Ogden Power Development, Inc. as a startup independent power business unit within Ogden Projects that grew to 20 people in three international locations with $12 million annual development budget and up to $200 million in equity support>
I left Ogden to take the position of Chief Operating Officer - International at Sithe Energies Inc., where I was responsible for all international business of company, including subsidiaries and affiliates in Australia, China and Thailand. I served as member of the Investment Committee, which screened all projects for advanced development and investment.
I then joined Coastal Power Company, the independent power subsidiary of The Coastal Corporation, as Chief Operating Officer and later President, with 2,000 net equity megawatts in operation, over 3,000 megawatts in development, a $20 million operating budget, a $200 million capital budget and EBIT of $140 million. Coastal merged with El Paso Corporation, where I became the Senior Vice President responsible for new power development in North America. I headed a team of developers managing over 4,000 MW of projects in active development.
After El Paso downsized in 2002, I purchased a business engaged in the retail sale and service of BMW motorcycles. I built a strong clientele of customers through personal service and a commitment to customer satisfaction.
I passed the New Jersey bar examination in February 2006, and was admitted to practice in the state in May 2006. I am member in good standing of the Bar of the Supreme Court of in Pennsylvania. I earned an undergraduate degree from Brown University, magna cum laude, and my law degree from The Law School at the University of Pennsylvania, cum laude.
